Mold is a great mimicker. What if your headaches, random body pains, sniffles, digestive issues, and abnormal sleep patterns are really a mold issue? What if your home has been slowly but surely harming you? Pretty scary notion but as crazy as it sounds, it can be true. Poor ventilation, humidity, or contaminants add to an air problem, further enhancing the spreading of mold throughout your domicile.
Professional mold testing can cost anywhere between $300 to $500, but EC3 Mold Assessment Test Home Kit brings convenience and affordability and can help you get an initial idea of what is going on. If you’re treading down this path, it can be overwhelming and it’s best to take baby steps.
Dangers of Mold
Mold is gaining attention as a huge factor for many health ailments. Here are some important facts to note:
- 40 percent of people are more likely to have asthma when living in a damp or moldy home
- Studies of large office buildings and surveys of homes show that 30 to 50 percent of all structures harbor damp conditions.
- 4.6 million cases of asthma are attributed to dampness and mold exposure in the home
- Mold can cause lung infections
- Exposure to mold can irritate the eyes, skin, nose, throat, and deregulate hormone production
Mold Assessment Test at Home
Regardless of where you live, mold testing should be a regular part of your seasonal transition — this includes testing air as well as clothing that has been packed away. EC3 Mold Assessment Test Home Kit includes everything you’ll need to test for the presence of mold spores in your home, in the air, and on any fabrics.
Each mold assessment test kit contains six mold test plates and detailed directions to test indoor air, surfaces, and fabrics for the presence of mold. The testing takes an hour to perform and five days to get full results. Once the five days are over you’ll have accurate and conclusive information on where mold lives in your home.
The results will confirm if mold has reached unhealthy levels with allergy and disease implications, allowing you to protect yourself and your family’s health. The next step is to combat the mold in your home and most importantly, tackle the mold that may be inside your body and on fabrics in your home.

Air Testing: Enter the room or area that you wish to test. Remove the test plate from the clear sleeve. Take the lid off the test plate and place an open plate on a flat surface away from walls and windows. Place lid open side down next to the test plate. After 1 hour, place the lid back on top of the test plate. Seal the closed plate with tape. Wrap the sealed plate in aluminum foil. Label wrapped plate with the name of the room or space tested and the date. Place wrapped and labeled plate in a drawer or cabinet.
When 5 days have passed, remove the aluminum foil to reveal the results. DO NOT unseal or open test plate or you risk spreading concentrated mold back into the air.
Use the key that’s included in the test kit to determine your results.
Testing Specific Items: Remove test plate from the clear sleeve. Take lid off test plate and set aside. Gently tap the item you wish to test with the plate 1-2 times. Make sure that the agar material is exposed to the item when tapping. The puffs of air created from tapping it will cause any mold spores to attach to the agar material. Place lid back on test plate. Seal closed plate with tape. Wrap sealed plate in aluminum foil. Label wrapped plate with name of object tested and date. Place wrapped and labelled plate in a drawer or cabinet in the same room.
When 5 days have elapsed since the date of testing, remove the aluminum foil to reveal results. DO NOT unseal or open test plate. Use the key that’s included with the test kit instructions to determine your results.
