More Than Just Blueberries
Blueberries is one of the most commonly recommended sources of antioxidant rich foods. But did you know that apples, dark chocolate, dried plums, red wine, artichokes, pecans, walnuts, strawberries, and sweet potatoes are also great antioxidant sources? If not, you’re not alone: 91 percent of Americans don’t know which foods are antioxidant-rich.
Why should you care about antioxidants? Antioxidants play an important role in reducing our risk of heart attacks, strokes and other cardiovascular illnesses. Specifically, vitamins C and E are antioxidants that help protect healthy cells from the damage caused by free-radicals, an abundance of which is a proven contributing factor in developing cancer and heart disease.
