Is it possible to go green with grain? Executives at the Juneau-based Alaskan Brewing Co. are now serving “beer-powered beer” courtesy of their $1.8 million boiler system that reduces their fuel costs by burning the brewery’s grain waste instead. It powers the majority of the company’s fuel requirements.
“We had to be a little more innovative just so that we could do what we love to do, but do it where we’re located,” Alaskan Brewing co-founder Geoff Larson said.
